ITINERARY:
Day 1: Arrive in Buenos Aires. Transfer to your hotel.
Day 2: Bike tour.
You'll get to know Buenos Aires while riding a bike. The wind on your face and the pedaling, span to span, make the streets even more attractive, in a city which hides secrets and stories. You need not be an expert cyclist to enjoy this
tour —it's fun, it's relaxing and, above all, it's a fantastic way to go around the city from another perspective.
Day 3: Transfer to airport and fly to El Calafate in Southern Patagonia, a small tourist town situated on the banks of milky turquoise Lago Argentino
Day 4: Minitrekking over the Perito Moreno Glacier.
The Perito Moreno glacier is famous because it is possible to walk on it. To do this, you need not be a trained sportsperson —this adventure was designed for everyone who would dare. It has become an Argentinean classic adventure, since it is a great opportunity to reach this huge ice mass. The Perito Moreno glacier is privileged, as it is one of the few glaciers in the world born at 4,921 feet above sea l evel and it goes down to 656 feet below sea level
— it enables visitors to have enviable access and watching. The way to discover and explore this unbelievable white ice mountain is easy and effortless. Countless crevices, drains, small lagoons and fragmentary ice blocks called seracs make up an untamed, gripping landscape
Day 5: Upsala kayaking Experience:
This outing is carried out wholly into the Upsala channel of the Lago Argentino lake. It allows double-touring kayaking with the chance of sighting giant icebergs. There is also a slow-paddle journey adapted to the group's level and the surrounding conditions. During the journey, we will be able to watch representative fauna & flora especies (condors,
eagles, wild cows, ñires (Antarctic beechwood), lengas (white oak) and also get very near many cliffs and big mountains.
Day 6: Public coach to El Chaltén in the Fitz Roy Mountains. A 3hr journey from El Calafate bus station takes you
deep into Los Glaciers National Park. Wildlife to look out for includes guanaco and the ostrich-like rhea. The road skirts the turquoise waters of Lago Viedma, with views of the Viedma glacier. On a clear day, an hour before arriving in El Chaltén, the whole of the Fitz Roy massif comes into view - a fantastic taste of what lies ahead. Transfer to your hotel.
Day 7: Aimed to those who have little time to make a longer walk, this trek allowed us to reach the first Fitz Roy mount viewpoint. It departs from the footpath at the end of the town, which starts with a steep slope which is continued for 1h 30 'and ascending about 350m to reach the first lookout. From there you get the first spectacular view of Fitz Roy mount, flanked by "arrows" Poicenot, Saint Exupéry, Mermoz and Guillaumet. After 15' we reach the first mountain base camp (Capri Mountain) and the homonymous lagoon, with views of mountains, forests and Fitz Roy mount.
Day 8: This is s full day tour (3hs each way approx.) where you can get amazing lagoon, glacier and Cerro Torre views , with a trekking up to Cerro Torre basecamp. From El Chaltén, there are two head-trails to Laguna Torre, both paths join together after 5 minutes walk. The trail enters the Fitz Roy river valley and continues following the river upstream to its source. At only 15 minutes walk you will access the first viewpoint located at the gorge of the Fitz Roy river -called Cascada Margarita- which offers a panoramic view of the Cerro Solo, Adela range, Cerro Torre and the Fitz Roy mount. Across the river lies the Margarita waterfall. Halfway you will reach Cerro Torre viewpoint with incomparable views of the Adela range, Cerro Torre and other granite needles. Finally the path crosses the DeAgostini base camp where you can stay overnight in your tent. Fifteen minutes along the way from
the camp you will reach Laguna Torre
Day 9: Boat to the Glacier Viedma, trek on the glacier.
Return to El Calafate. It is a 15km drive to the tiny port of Bahia Tunel, located in a hidden natural bay a few hundred meters from the delta. At 9am, set sail for the Glacier Viedma on board the purpose built Huemul. It has a capacity for 55 passengers and has been built to afford the best views of the dramatic landscape both on deck and inside. En route, you'll see unobstructed views of the Fitz Roy massif and Huemul peak with the first glimpse of the glacier at Cape Horns. After about an hour, disembark at a rocky headland located in front of the glacier. Another short walk takes you to the perfect vantage point from which to see the glacier and visit some unusual ice caves. To get
closer still, there's a 3hr ice trek across the glacier with crampons. Re-board the Huemul for the return trip (45 mins), which crosses in front of the glacier for some close up views, before returning to Bahia Tunel. Return to El Chalten
and continue by bus to El Calafate; overnight.
Day 10: Transfer to the airport and fly to Ushuaia, the world's southernmost city, on the island of Tierra de Fuego. The city has grown rapidly in recent years, partly as a result of government incentives to settlers and its establishment as a Free Port, and partly a tourist centre - most Antarctic cruises leave from the port here. The setting is spectacular; jagged mountains hem in the town down to the shore of the Beagle Channel.
Transfer to your hotel.
Day 11: Trekking & Canoes in the End of the World.
Discover the true secret of the Tierra del Fuego National Park, where mountains can be reached from near the sea and the fresh water from rivers and lakes lives with the sea coast. In this outing, we will walk through the forest and paddle through lakes and rivers, all of that within the Parks keeping Argentina's southernmost forests.
Day 12: 4x4 Adventure.
Feel like the naturalists and the photographers who discover happiness in a landscape. From the Andes mountains, we will sight the Lago Escondido lake, a small marvel hidden at the bottom of a valley. Next, the
great and impressive Lago Fagnano lake will be the center of our day.
Day 13: Fly to Buenos Aires, transfer to central hotel for final night .
Day 14: Transfer to airport for your flight home.
