ITINERARY:    

Day 1: Welcome at the airport or bus terminal and transfer to your boutique hotel located on the beach at the entrance of the Tayoona National Park. 

Today you have the opportunity of driving north east from the city of Santa
Marta you will pass along the foothills of the famous Sierra Nevada de Santa
Marta the highest costal mountain range in the world.  After passing
through the main park entrance and check point you will continue for an
additional 10 to 20 minutes along a rough gravel track to the end of the road
trail. From here it’s time to get your walking boots on and get ready to hit
the costal paths, for those  who prefer a more sedate pace horses can be
arranged. Enjoy the 30 minute walk to one of the main beaches, where you can sit
under hanging palms and watch the waves roll up the shore or a walk of a couple
of hours or so to one of the main swimming beaches also located here are a
number of great locally run restaurants for a nice lunch.

Remember that during your walk you can look
out for some of the Kogi tribes’ people who still live in the park, plus the
array of flora and fauna that you will pass during your trip. As you walk your
guide will be on hand to explain not only the culture and history of the park
but also about the wildlife that you may see on the way.

Wherever you finish your walk you have the
same trip back to the pickup point then transfer back to the hotel and time to
reminisce over your trip to on one of the most unspoilt beaches of the region.

Day 2: After breakfast it is time to re enter the national park and enjoy a marvellous full day hike up into the Siera Nevada de Santa Marta to the Pre-Colombian ruins of El Pueblito. This is
a smaller version of the Lost City structure located up in the Sierra Nevada
mountain. This pre Colombian indigenous site was part
of the same indigenous community that existed in the area many centuries before
and who’s decedents still inhabit much of the same area. At the site of El
Pueblito you can still see some of the original paths and foundations of
dwellings from the original “village” Although physically not much still
remains there is enough to get an insight in to how life must have been for the
indigenous tribes inhabiting the area. The walk to the site as well affords
the opportunity to see some of the coast lines amazing jungle back drop and its
variety of plant and tree life, you may also get an opportunity to see some of
the parks animal life including monkeys and small mammals.

Upon return to your hotel tome to relax. The town of Santa Marta is not far and worth exploring with a vibrant nightlife.

Day 3: Enjoy your complimentary breakfast and transfer to the your nominated point of departure for your onward travel (Airport of Bus Terminal)
